If you purchased our SuperDrive or Combo
Drive for your Cube, you can start from # 9. If you
purchased the Drive Mount kit, please start from here.
You will need a T-10 Torx driver and a phillips screwdriver
to disassemble your Cube..
1. Position your drive on the Drive Mount bracket from
this side, as shown in the photo. |
 |
2. Then push it into place on the other side of the Drive
Mount. Do not apply too much force.
|
 |
3. Slide the drive until it comes
to the blue circle.
|
 |
4. Position the drive so the
holes meet. |
 |
5. Tighten a plastic screw.
Do not apply too much force. |
 |
6. Tighten two plastic screws on the other side. Four
plastic screws come with this kit; one screw is an extra. Plastic screws are used in order to reduce noise and
vibration.

 |
7. Place the IDE connector on the end as shown, using
two metal screws. |
 |
8. Connect the cable that is included in this kit. |
 |
9. Remove the original optical
drive.
If you purchased our SuperDrive or Combo
Drive, you need to change the HDD jumper setting from
master to slave, because these drives are Master-fixed.
You can usually find the setting instructions on the HDD
label. Or you can find it on the HDD manufacturer's WEB
site.
|
 |
10. Insert the new drive and
connect the power cable. |
 |
11. The IDE cable should be positioned
like this. |
 |
12. Connect the IDE cable. |
|
13. Tighten with the four plastic
screws. Plastic screws are used to reduce noise and vibration. |
 |
14. Fold the IDE cable as shown. |
|
15. Reinstall the front cover
and put back all parts. |
| Note: |
Note:
1. You will need
to set up
the Master/Slave settings correctly. Most recent slim optical drives are
Master-fixed or CS-fixed,
but some are
Slave-fixed.
If you
use Our SuperDrive or Combo
Drive ,
you need to set the HDD jumper to Slave. Otherwise,
your Cube will not boot up.
2. If the drive does not fully
eject, you need to adjust the position of the
drive mount in the Cube
.
3. Most optical drives can be
used with OS X, using PathchBurn.
However, we are not responsible for drive compatibility.
If you don't know which drive you should use, we recommented our
internal drives, which combine compatible dirves
with this kit. They can be use with both OS 9 and OS X. |
