Although Apple's nominal maximum memory per module is 4GB, the MacBook Pro Early 2011, iMac Mid 2011, Mac mini Mid 2011 works absolutely fine with 8GB memory modules.

The maximum memory for MacBook Pro 13/15/17 Early 2011, Mac mini Mid 2011 is 16GB with two modules.
For iMac Mid 2011, it is 32GB with 4 modules.
